Work Zone Intrusion Alert

Challenge  

While workers were on foot in stationary work zones, they were exposed to errant vehicles entering the closure without sufficient warning.  

Solution

The solution is automatic intrusion alert for stationary operations. The system uses a line-of-sight laser to detect errant vehicles entering the work zone. When the beam is broken the device flashes bright lights and emits an 135 decibel alarm. The lights and audible alarm warn workers and alert the errant motorist.   

Result

• Device operates at the perimeter of the closer without exposing workers to traffic.  

• Provides an immediate alert to workers when an errant vehicle enters the work zone  

• Alerts the errant motorist, hopefully allowing them to correct
