When Disaster Strikes (Structure Maintenance and Investigations Bridge Asset Management)

Challenge 

35 years ago Structure Maintenance and Investigations inspectors were deployed using nothing more than with a clip board, paper and pen to document their findings. With emerging technology, we can do better to relay information more efficiently and effectively as time is of the essence. 

Solution 

Caltrans Team developed an Emergency Inspection Form utilizing ArcGIS Survey 123 application to collect real time vital data via web or mobile devices to upload and communicate emergency data quickly and effectively. This will help isolate and prioritize locations of greatest need.

• Quicker response time: Inspectors can input information on iPad remotely from any where

• Improved communication internally and to external partners or media
