METS Asset Management
Challenge
Locating equipment across labs and offices was laborious often taking weeks. Additionally, there was a need for improved tracking of equipment calibration, maintenance status, and cost projections to ensure compliance and effective budget planning.
Solution
We introduced an RFID tracking system, affixing RFID tags to over 1500 items. Utilizing Smartsheet, we streamlined equipment tracking, maintenance, and calibration status monitoring, leveraging dashboards and automated reminders to ensure compliance.
Result
Eliminates the need for manual equipment location tracking, saving approximately 120 person-hours annually
Enhances accessibility to equipment records, fostering transparency
Automated reminders for calibration and maintenance ensure timely upkeep, minimizing unexpected downtime
Cost data integrated into Smartsheet aids in proactive budget planning
