Improving The Visibility, and Safety Enhancement For Travelers When Enter/Exit Highway On/Off Ramps

Challenge 

On/Off Ramps lighting poles are not visible enough for travelers due to rusty, hidden by grass, bushes. graffiti, weather condition.  Majority of the Work Order jobs that the District 4 Maintenance Knockdown Crew received (R103 form) involved the State highway lighting poles knocked down were happened at the on/off ramp of the freeway. 

Solution 

Affixing a yellow reflective decal to the light poles along the ramp will added extra visibility to help drivers to pay more attention, a sense of the continuous direction of a ramp, and could allow drivers to be informed in order to adjust their driving speed.  

Reflective Decal recommended installed at the driver's eye level (between 2 to 5 ft) and can be tailored to the specification size.

Result   

• It might be considered as an extra Warning Sign/Object Marker

• Could assist in reducing collisions with the State light poles
