Fireproof Coatings
Challenge
Our SPGA walls are vulnerable to wildfires. Timber lagging burns, concrete lagging and facia crack under extreme temperatures. Fireproof coating placed over timber lagging, not only protects the lagging but is also cost effective over concrete lagging or concrete facia.
Solution
Fireproof coatings can be applied to new and existing structures that are inherently venerable to wildfires. They provide a shield of protection that can outlast wildfires and can provide time for emergency responders to get to these venerable structures before they burn.
Result
Provide protection against fires
Heat transfer from the coating to the substrate is extremely low, typically, 3 to 10%
Move away from problematic concrete lagging, and expensive concrete facia
Current price is around $20 to $30 per SF, about half of concrete lagging
Environmentally safe product
Reduced carbon footprint over concrete lagging or concrete facia
Has a 25 year life, before it needs to be replaced
Spray on application, means it applies quickly
Water based product that is waterproof once set
Product changes color as it protects the substrate from fire, making it easily identifiable to remove and re-apply the product
Reflects up to 97% of the heat the coating is exposed to
Could be placed on roof tops to lower the amount of energy needed for A/C and Heating by negating the external temperature difference
Coating can be colored
